Working to the BACP’s ethical framework
at all times is a condition of my registration with the association

COMPLAINTS: If speaking with the therapist is not practicable or has been unsatisfactory, complaints should be sent to the BACP. They deal with grievances about therapeutic services provided by BACP members, or about the therapist’s conduct. The BACP does not deal with claims for financial compensation. A complaint will be investigated by them and, if upheld, they will: • advise the therapist on how they can improve • impose a requirement for specific changes in their practice • withdraw their BACP membership status • publish details of the complaint.
Your Safety
ACCESSIBILITY: For disabled access and other information, please make contact as soon as possible to discuss requirements. Language is English only.
AGE: Therapy is offered to adults aged 16+ - my liability insurance covers people aged 16 and over
PREMISES: I only use risk-assessed premises which pass health and safety and confidentiality standards.
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION: I have chosen to be registered with the BACP which has a rigorous registration process and is the leading organisation in this field, having the most members (2025). Their counselling and psychotherapy registration service is accredited (in the UK only) under the Professional Standards Authority’s accredited register programme. It is a government-backed scheme which aims to protect the public by helping them to choose health and care professionals who are competent and trustworthy.
INSURANCE I am insured for public liability (the Certificate will be shown to you) and am a full member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in accordance with their ethical framework and professional standards. The BACP Ethical Framework can be viewed here: [on this page: BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions available in English and Welsh documents, audio, and British Sign Language versions.] I work according to this ethical framework at all times. In essence, the framework covers the therapist’s commitment to all their clients, explains the ethics that inform the work, and sets out what is professionally regarded as good practice.
PRIVACY NOTICE: This is shown to potential and new clients. My website has been designed without an online contact form so that data is not collected in that way; in my practice data collection is restricted and risk minimised. Instead, I ask that you please telephone, text or email, and when leaving messages, please give ONLY sufficient information to enable your call/email to be returned safely. The few details that I do need to retain, such as telephone numbers, are not stored with names; instead, they are coded.
GDPR AND THE DPA (2018): I am committed to complying with the General Data Protection Regulations and Data Protection Act (2018). I use necessary data only, and only data that you give to me freely, solely for the purpose of provision of counselling and psychotherapy and, with your permission, to use an anonymous quotation from you as a testimonial on my website and/or in a future research paper. I will only hold the information for as long as I need it to carry out the task for which it was given. You have rights under current legislation to limit or prevent the processing of your data and to have access to this information. Please see my Privacy Notice for information on your rights and on how I use and store your personal data. When leaving messages, please give only sufficient information to enable your call/email to be returned safely.
